The Hook

What if someone told you that over 90% of the money in the world isn't real? It’s not paper or coins you can hold. It’s just numbers on a screen. That sounds strange, but it’s true. To understand how we got here, we have to go back to a time before money even existed.

The Story

Kai was an amazing guitar player and wanted to get their skateboard's broken wheel fixed. The local skate shop charged 20 currency units for the repair. Kai didn't have the money, so they offered the owner free guitar lessons instead. The owner smiled but shook her head. 'I appreciate it,' she said, 'but what I really need is someone to fix my leaky roof.' Kai couldn't fix a roof. They felt stuck. Later, Kai realized that if they had charged someone else for guitar lessons, they could have earned the money to pay the shop. The shop owner could then use that money to hire a roofer. Money wasn't just about buying things; it was a tool that connected everyone's different skills and needs.
