The Regular Past Tense Rule Base Verb + ed = Past Tense Verb To show that a regular action already happened, find the verb and add the letters '-ed' to the end of it. The Sentence Check Rule Find the Verb ➡️ Check for '-ed' ➡️ Confirm Past Tense To find out if a whole sentence is in the regular past tense, you must find its main verb. If that verb is a regular verb ending in '-ed', the sentence is in the regular past tense.
