Key Rules & Conventions
The First and Last Word Rule
Always capitalize the FIRST word and the LAST word of a title, no matter what they are.
This is the most important rule! Even if the first or last word is a 'small word,' it gets a capital letter because of its position.
The Important Words Rule
Capitalize all 'important words' in the middle of the title.
Think of the words that carry the most meaning, like names of people, places, action words, and describing words. These always get a capital letter.
The Small Words Rule
Do NOT capitalize 'small words' (like 'a', 'and', 'in', 'of', 'the') when they are in the middle of a title.
