Key Rules & Conventions

The -s Rule Add -s For most nouns, simply add -s to the end to make them plural. The -es Rule Add -es Use this rule for nouns that end in s, x, z, ch, or sh. Adding just an -s would be hard to say! The -ies Rule Change y to i and add -es Use this rule for nouns that end with a consonant followed by a y. The -ves Rule Change f or fe to v and add -es Use this rule for many common nouns that end in f or fe.
