The Compound Structure Test
To determine the correct pronoun case in a compound structure, mentally remove the other noun/pronoun and the conjunction ('and'/'or'). The sentence should still make sense with the remaining pronoun.
This is the most reliable method for choosing between pronouns like 'I' and 'me' or 'she' and 'her' in compound subjects and objects. It isolates the pronoun so its function is clear.
