Welcome to the Field!

Track and field is one of the oldest sports in the world! It's all about seeing how fast you can run, how high or far you can jump, and how far you can throw something. Before you start any new movement, always warm up your body with a few minutes of light jogging or jumping jacks to get your muscles ready.

The Run: Power Up Your Sprint

Sprinting is all about running as fast as you can over a short distance. Try this: pump your arms from your shoulder, not just your elbow, like you're reaching for something in front and behind you. Keep your eyes looking forward to where you are going. This helps you run in a straight, fast line.

The Jump: The Standing Long Jump

Let's see how far you can leap! Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart. Swing your arms back as you bend your knees, then explode forward, swinging your arms up and out as you jump. Form Cue: Try to land softly on both feet with your knees bent to protect your joints.
