The Present Progressive Formula
Subject + ESTAR (conjugated in present tense) + Gerundio
To form this tense, first conjugate the verb 'estar' to match your subject (estoy, estás, está, estamos, estáis, están). Then, add the present participle (gerund) of the main action verb.
Forming Regular Gerunds
For -AR verbs: stem + -ando. For -ER and -IR verbs: stem + -iendo.
Remove the infinitive ending (-ar, -er, -ir) from the verb to find the stem. Then, add the corresponding gerund ending. For example, 'caminar' becomes 'caminando' and 'aprender' becomes 'aprendiendo'.
