Formation of Formal Commands (Usted/Ustedes)
1. Start with the 'yo' form of the present indicative. 2. Drop the '-o' ending. 3. Add the 'opposite' vowel ending: '-e(n)' for -AR verbs, '-a(n)' for -ER/-IR verbs.
Use this formula to give respectful commands to a teacher, an adult, or a group of students. Remember irregular 'yo' forms like 'tengo', 'hago', 'pongo'.
Formation of Informal Commands (Tú)
Affirmative: Use the 3rd person singular (él/ella/usted) form of the present indicative. Negative: Use the 'tú' form of the present subjunctive (yo form, drop -o, add opposite ending + 's').
