Grammar Rules & Patterns

Forming Comparatives of Superiority/Inferiority Thing 1 + ser (is/are) + más/menos + adjective + que + Thing 2 Use this formula to compare two nouns. Use 'más' for 'more' (bigger, faster) and 'menos' for 'less' (smaller, slower). The verb 'ser' (es, son) and the adjective must agree with Thing 1. Adjective Agreement Rule Adjectives must match the gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural) of the noun they describe. If the noun is feminine like 'la ciudad', use a feminine adjective like 'bonita'. If the noun is plural like 'los edificios', use a plural adjective like 'altos'.
