Grammar Rules & Patterns

Rule #1: Gender Agreement (Concordancia de Género) Adjective endings must match the gender of the noun. If a noun is masculine (like 'el niño'), the adjective describing it should also be masculine (usually ending in -o). If a noun is feminine (like 'la niña'), the adjective should be feminine (usually ending in -a). Rule #2: Adjective Placement Noun + Verb 'ser' + Adjective In the simple sentences we are learning, the descriptive adjective comes AFTER the person you are describing and the verb 'es' (is). For example: 'Mi papá es alto.'
