Plus Sign (+)This little sign tells us to add. It looks like a small 't'.2 + 1 means two and one more.
SubtractTo take something away. You have less.I have 3 cookies πͺπͺπͺ. I subtract 1 by eating it.
Minus Sign (-)This little sign tells us to subtract. It is a straight line.3 - 1 means three take away one.
Equals Sign (=)This sign means 'is the same as'. It shows the answer.2 + 1 = 3. The two sides are the same.
SumThe sum is the answer when you add. It's the total.In 2 + 1 = 3, the sum is 3.
DifferenceThe difference is the answer when you subtract. It's what is left.In 3 - 1 = 2, the difference is 2.
