Introduction & Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives Make a quick guess about the number of objects in a small group (1-10). Explain that an estimate is a smart guess, not an exact count. Count the objects to check their estimate. Use words like 'about', 'close to', or 'around' to describe their estimate. Compare their estimate to the actual count and say if it was more or less. Identify if a group has 'a few' (1-3) or 'some' (4-7) objects. Look in a cookie jar! 🍪 How many cookies do you see? Can you guess without counting? We will learn how to make a smart guess. This is called estimating! Then we will count to see how close our guess was. Real-World Applications Guessing how many toys are in a box 🧸 Guessing how many friends are on the playground...
