Rule for Identifying Polyhedra
A 3D figure is a polyhedron if and only if all its surfaces are flat polygons, and all its edges are straight line segments.
To determine if a shape is a polyhedron, check if it has any curved parts. If it does, it's not a polyhedron.
Rule for Identifying Non-Polyhedra
A 3D figure is a non-polyhedron if it has any curved surfaces or curved edges.
If you see a rounded side or a curved line on a 3D shape, it immediately tells you it's not a polyhedron.
Naming Prisms and Pyramids
Prisms and pyramids are named based on the shape of their base(s). For example, a prism with triangular bases is a 'triangular prism'. A pyramid with a square base is a 'square pyramid'.
