Rule for Reading Data Frequency
$$ \text{Frequency of a Value} = \text{Number of 'X's above that value on the number line} $$
To find out how many times a specific data value occurred, simply count the number of 'X' marks stacked directly above that value on the number line.
Rule for Calculating Total Data Points
$$ \text{Total Data Points} = \sum (\text{Frequency of each unique data value}) $$
To find the total number of observations or participants in the data set, add up the frequencies (the number of 'X's) for every single data value shown on the line plot.
Rule for Identifying Data Patterns
