Core Formulas
The Tens Place Rule
(A tens + B ones) - (C tens) = (A - C) tens + B ones
When you subtract a multiple of 10, you only need to subtract the tens digits. The ones digit in your starting number stays exactly the same because you are subtracting zero ones.
Number Line Jumps Rule
X - (N * 10) = X - 10 - 10 ... (N times)
To subtract a multiple of 10 on a number line, start at the bigger number and make backward jumps of 10. The number of jumps you make is the same as the tens digit of the number you are subtracting.
