Core Formulas
Zero Property of Multiplication
a \times 0 = 0
Any number multiplied by zero always equals zero. If you have 7 groups of nothing, you have nothing.
Identity Property of Multiplication
a \times 1 = a
Any number multiplied by one is always that same number. If you have 1 group of 9, you just have 9.
Commutative Property of Multiplication
a \times b = b \times a
You can switch the order of the factors and the product will stay the same. This is also called the 'turn-around' fact. For example, 3 x 8 is the same as 8 x 3.
