This is how we write a problem for subtracting 7. The biggest number goes first.
The Counting Back Strategy
Start at x, then count back 7 times: (x-1), (x-2), (x-3), (x-4), (x-5), (x-6), (x-7)
Say the big number, then use your fingers to count back 7 numbers to find the answer.
Break Apart 7 Strategy
x - 7 is the same as x - 5 - 2
Taking away 7 is tricky. It's easier to take away 5, then take away 2 more.
