The Hook
Imagine a future boss or college admissions officer scrolling through your social media right now. What would they find? It's not a hypothetical. Research shows that 70% of employers screen candidates' social media profiles before hiring. The Story
Zara (14) was really excited about a competitive summer coding camp. She spent weeks on her application and felt confident. A few days after submitting, she got an email asking for a follow-up interview, which felt a little strange. In the interview, the program director asked her about an old, public social media account she'd forgotten about. Two years ago, Zara had posted some immature comments and edgy memes. She was mortified. The director explained that while her application was strong, they had to be sure their students were mature. Zara apologized and explained she had changed. She got in, but barely. After the call, Zara realized her online past could have cost her a huge opportunity.
