1. 'Que' replaces a direct objectRule: We use 'que' (that/which/whom) [kuh] to replace a noun that is the direct object of the verb in the second clause (the second part of the sentence). 'Que' (that/which/whom) [kuh] is always followed by a subject (like je (I), tu (you), il (he), le professeur (the teacher), Marie, etc.).Sentence 1: J'ai acheté un livre. (I bought a book.)
