Pluralizing Closed Compound Nouns
For most closed compound nouns, add '-s' or '-es' to the end of the entire word.
This rule applies when the two words are fused into one. Treat it like a single, regular noun for pluralization.
Pluralizing Open Compound Nouns
For open compound nouns, pluralize the head noun (the most significant word) by adding '-s' or '-es'.
Identify the word that carries the primary meaning and apply the plural ending only to that word, leaving the other word(s) unchanged.
