Who vs. Whom: Subject or Object? Use 'who' when the pronoun is the subject of a verb. Use 'whom' when the pronoun is the object of a verb or a preposition. Think of 'who' as 'he/she/they' (subject forms) and 'whom' as 'him/her/them' (object forms). If you can replace the pronoun with 'he' or 'she', use 'who'. If you can replace it with 'him' or 'her', use 'whom'.
