Read the Whole Sentence (and Beyond!)
Always read the entire sentence, and sometimes even the sentences before and after, to gather all available context.
Don't just look at the word in isolation. The surrounding words are your best clues to unlock the correct meaning.
Identify Context Clues
Look for specific words or phrases that hint at the meaning, such as synonyms, antonyms, examples, or descriptive details.
Act like a detective! Underline or circle words that seem to give you information about the multiple-meaning word. These are your evidence.
Test Each Definition
