No '-ed' for Irregular Verbs
Irregular verbs do not form their past tense by adding '-d' or '-ed'.
Unlike regular verbs (like walk/walked), these special verbs have unique spellings for their past tense forms that must be memorized. For example, we say 'brought', not 'bringed'.
The '-ought' / '-aught' Pattern
A group of irregular verbs end in '-ought' or '-aught' in the past tense.
Look for this pattern to help you remember. Bring becomes br-ought. Think becomes th-ought. Catch becomes c-aught. Teach becomes t-aught. This pattern is a great clue!
