The Singular 'S' Rule Singular Pronoun (He, She, It) + Verb-s / Verb-es When the pronoun is singular (he, she, it), the verb in the present tense usually gets an 's' or 'es' at the end. Think of it as the verb wearing a special 's' hat for a single person. The Plural Power Rule Plural Pronoun (We, They) + Verb (base form) When the pronoun is plural (we, they), the verb in the present tense does NOT get an 's' at the end.
