Key Rules & Conventions
The Adjective Order Rule (Size then Color)
When you use adjectives for size and color to describe one noun, the size adjective usually comes first.
Use this simple rule to make your descriptions sound natural. Think: Size, then Color. For example, 'big green monster,' 'little blue bird,' 'huge yellow sun.'
The Conjunction Connection Rule
Use a subordinating conjunction (like 'because', 'when', 'if') to join a descriptive clause to another clause.
This rule helps you explain 'why' or 'when' something is happening. The conjunction goes at the beginning of the clause that explains the reason or time. For example: 'He was happy because he got a new toy.'
