The 'Who or What?' Question To find the subject, ask: 'Who or what [is doing the action]?' Use this question to find the entire subject part of the sentence. The main noun in your answer is the simple subject. The 'Did What?' Question To find the predicate, ask: 'What did [the subject] do?' Use this question to find the entire predicate part of the sentence. The main verb in your answer is the simple predicate.
