Singular Possessive Rule Singular Noun + 's To show that ONE person, place, or thing owns something, add an apostrophe (') and an 's' to the end of the noun. Plural Possessive Rule (s-ending) Plural Noun ending in s + ' If the owners are plural (more than one) and the word already ends in 's', just add an apostrophe (') after the 's'. Plural Possessive Rule (Irregular) Plural Noun not ending in s + 's If the owners are plural but the word does not end in 's' (like children or mice), add an apostrophe (') and an 's'.
