Key Rules & Conventions
The Take-Out Test
Take the -self or -selves pronoun out of the sentence.
Read the sentence without the special pronoun. Does it still make sense? This is the best way to know if it's a Mirror Word or a Superstar Word.
The Mirror Word Rule 🪞
If the sentence breaks or sounds silly, the pronoun is reflexive (a Mirror Word).
You MUST keep it in the sentence. The action needs to bounce back to the subject.
The Superstar Word Rule ⭐
If the sentence still makes sense, the pronoun is intensive (a Superstar Word).
You can keep it for extra power, but you don't have to. It's just for emphasis.
