Key Rules & Conventions
The Before-the-Noun Rule
Adjective + Noun
Most of the time, you will find an adjective right before the noun it describes.
The After-'is'-or-'are' Rule
Noun + is/are + Adjective
Sometimes, an adjective comes after a special verb like 'is', 'are', 'was', or 'were'.
The Question Rule
Ask: What kind? How many? Which one?
Adjectives answer questions about nouns. If a word answers one of these questions, it's an adjective!
