Ask yourself, 'Is this something a person, animal, or thing can DO?'
Use this test to check if a word is an action verb. Can I jump? Yes! So 'jump' is an action verb.
Find the Subject First
First, find who or what the sentence is about. Then, ask what they are doing.
This helps you find the action. In 'The fish swims,' the 'fish' is the subject. What does it do? It swims!
